What is Internet marketing?
Internet marketing is a plan to make your web site be more visible toward the top tier of listings in search results when an "internet surfer" searches for the product or service you provide. Return to top of page.

Why do I need to market my site?
When an "Internet surfer" does search for businesses or groups like you, you want to be near the top of the list not trapped in the middle of 3 million other site like yours. If you are going to use your web site to attract new customers or new clients, you need to be found! Why invest your time, energy and especially your money into a web site that will only disappear into Internet space. Be found; be successful. Return to top of page.

What qualifies as a "commercial" web site?
Commercial web sites are all sites that cannot be included within the category of Not-for-Profit. Return to top of page.

What is search engine spamming?
Although spam is everyone's favorite when it comes to musubi, it is not for the Internet. Like musubi spam, Internet spam consists of many things. Internet spam can vary from random mass emails to the general population like annoying chain mails, or it can be severe enough to get your domain banned from engine and directory listings. Marketing spam is common and it consists mainly of the constant submission of web sites to search engines and directories. This generally happens when a web site owner submits to the engines and directories on a daily to weekly basis. Another popular spamming technique is adding terms like "sex," or repeating sequences of keywords like "condo, condo, condo,…" into the Meta-fields of web sites. Return to top of page.

Search engines, Search directories, what are they and what are their differences?
Search Engines:
Search engines, such as Inktomi, create their listings using automated programs and spiders. Search engine spiders crawl the web extracting information during a search query, then you search through what they have found on the results page.
Search Directories:
A directory such as Yahoo depends on humans for its listings. You submit a short description to the directory for your entire site, and an editor reviews your work. Based upon the quality of the site and pertinent information, the site's description is either edited or accepted. This is the largest component to the ranking of your site upon a directory. Will Aloha By Design make my site come up on top of all the engines and directories?
Unfortunately the answer is "No, we can't automatically make you #1." Each engine and directory use different ranking and categorizing criteria and it is nearly impossible to specifically cater to each one. We can't immediately send you to the top spot, but we implement methods of solid design and content to help your web site move higher into the listings. Our research into the workings of all the top engines and directories gives us advantages when we design and edit web sites. Return to top of page.

Guaranteed top positioning. Is it possible?
YES! YES! YES! It is the answer all web site owners have been waiting for. Aloha By Design has found a way to guarantee your placement in the top engines and directories without a pay-per click or pay-for-position system. Please contact us for more information. Return to top of page.

When will I appear on any engine or directory?
When web sites are submitted using standard non-fee method the waiting time can be a minimum of 8 weeks. Search engines and directories control their own databases and the time frame it takes to get into their search engines, especially when web sites are submitted without paying a fee directly to the engine. Therefore, how soon you appear in any one particular engine or directory is totally up to them. This is something that no one other than the Search Engine or Directory itself has any control. Once your site is submitted, we must wait. It's that way for ALL web site owners so patience is the key. It just takes time. Return to top of page.

Why does it take SO long?
It's a combination of a couple things:
1) The enormous daily growth of the Internet. Thousands of sites are being added continually and submitting the standard way only puts you at the end of the list to be added to an engine or directory category. Your only advantage here is possibly beating your competitor in line placement if they have not yet created web presence.
2) Your site needs to be reviewed by an actual person. The non-fee editorial staff at many of the search engines has been drastically cut or re-allocated to the fee-based submission staff and they can only keep up with the submission rate to a point. Return to top of page.

Is there anything that you or we can do to speed things up?
YES! YES! YES! With our preferred express marketing you will be able to see your site on some engines within 2-7 days. Return to top of page.

Submissions: Automatic vs. Manual?
If a good program is used, automatic submissions work just as effectively as manual submissions (only with non-fee based submission). Aloha By Design practices only manual submissions, as most of the marketing requires the input of payment information. We offer reliable automatic submissions through an affiliate web design and marketing company. Return to top of page.

How often should I submit my web site?
Aloha By Design considers each web site on an individual basis. Please contact us so we can cater to your web site's specific needs. Return to top of page.

How do I find out if I'm on an engine or directory?
E-Com will monitor the appearance of your domain on each engine and directory, but we encourage all of our clients to do the same too. All you have to do is type www.YourDomainName.com in the search query box in each of the engines or directories. Return to top of page.

How do search engines rank web sites?
Search engines rank web sites based on many factors. Each follows its own set of rules to determine the specific placement of each web site. Some of these criteria include:
1) Meta-fields
2) Index page content
3) Frequency of keywords
4) Page size
5) Load time
6) Flash
7) Frames
8) Links
9) Web design program
10) Spam
Engine criteria are certainly not limited to this list by any means. Also the list of criteria is not in any specific order or priority. The result is each engine will most likely rank your web site differently. Return to top of page.
